A look ahead to 2025 and how you can get involved

We want to thank everyone who took our survey last year! Your feedback helps guide our club’s plans for 2025, and the DMSC Board is excited to share key themes and areas of focus for the year ahead.

Improving the Player & Family Experience

We understand that clear communication and strong support are essential to creating a positive environment for both players and their families. In 2025, we are focusing on several important areas to improve communication, resources, and support:

  • Hiring a Recreation Director: We recognize that our recreation program needs strong leadership, and as such, we are creating a new role within our club, Director of Recreational Soccer. This role will focus on the development and growth of our Kickstart program, in-house 6U-8U program and our 9U+ Traveling Rec program.

  • Resources for Coaches and Parents: Develop easy-to-access materials for coaches and create consistent communication and touch points with our families throughout the season.

  • Enhancing Current Programs: Refine existing programs and look for opportunities to develop new soccer programs.

Improving Fields and Facilities

We understand that the quality of the spaces where players train and compete plays a vital role in their development and enjoyment of the game. Here’s how we plan to elevate our facilities in 2025:

  • In-house Mowing: Bring mowing in-house for better control, maintain current mower, and buy an additional one for efficiency.

  • Facility Upgrades: Seek grant funding for gravel parking lot resurfacing, building restoration, and more picnic tables.

  • Improved Signage: Install better signage for safety and clearer info.

  • Tree Care: Maintain key trees at Aliber for shade and safety.

  • Soccer Goals: Acquire more goals for small-sided fields to enhance kids' soccer opportunities.

If you’re looking for a small way to help with our facilities, consider volunteering and getting our fields ready for the spring season on March 23!

Commitment to Creating Opportunities for Soccer

Through fundraising efforts and the generosity of families, community members and business partnerships we were able to provide over $56,000 in financial assistance to players in need in 2024.

We will continue creating opportunities to learn and grow together through soccer in 2025.

  • Des Moines Refugee Support Partnership: We are proud to continue our partnership with Des Moines Refugee Support, working together to provide more opportunities for refugee youth to develop their skills, build friendships, and enjoy the game.

  • Des Moines Public School Collaboration: We’re also excited to continue our work with Des Moines Public Schools to bring soccer programs directly into local schools. This partnership allows us to reach children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in soccer, giving them the chance to learn, grow, and play the beautiful game.

How to Volunteer and Get Involved

Many of our club initiatives are powered by volunteers. Whether you’re looking to volunteer for field set-up, assist with coaching, or help with fundraising or event planning, we’d love to have your help.
